"One of the most significant historical events of recent years was the celebration on December 4, 1925, of the Oregonian's seventy-fifth birthday. Pioneers from all parts of the Northwest, newspaper men, professors of history and others were the guests of the great paper... During the celebration it was declared that there are not more than two or three newspapers in America older than the Oregonian and only one, Chicago Tribune, which has continued so long under the one name and under the same management."
