Abstract

"A strong belief in the extent and magnitude of the deposits of raw materials, necessity created by local conditions, the isolations of the western coast from the producing iron and steel centers of the east, and an optimism of creative development- all contributed to the desire and the determination to establish an iron manufacturing industry on the western slope facing the Pacific Ocean."
