Abstract

"These extracts are taken from the four volume work by [Irving's nephew, Pierre Munro Irving], entitled The Life and Letters of Washington Irving… Since the following extracts are buried in the great mass, it seemed advisable to pick out allusions to the writing of Astoria for the convenience of students of Oregon history.
