"Dr. Archer B. Hulbert of the Stewart Commission of Western History is collecting for publication the correspondence of Dr. and Mrs. Marcus Whitman. Original letters or authenticated copies suitable for this volume are desired and should be sent to Dr. Hulbert at Colorado Springs, Colorado."
