Early Hawaiian Postal Facilities

Authors

Abstract

"On May 12, 1930, [Fred Lockley's] article was devoted to early postal facilities from Honolulu to the west coast of North America. He mentioned the sixty-year old agreement between the two countries, the first article of which included the following: 'There shall be an exchange of correspondence between the United States and the Hawaiian Kingdom by United States mail steamers plying between San Francisco and Honolulu as well as steamers and sailing vessels running between Honolulu and... various ports on Puget Sound, including Teekalet... Mr. Lockley, in commenting on the old document, says: 'But I must confess that I don't know where Teekalet on Puget Sound is.'"
