Abstract

"On March 19, 1844, a Catholic missionary at Cowlitz, in what is now the State of Washington, wrote a letter to the secretary of the diocese of Quebec, and in that letter made reference to what may possibly turn out to have been the earliest printing equipment ever brought to Washington."
