Abstract

"Among the bankers antedating the 'eighties there were, in the writer's opinion, three illustrious personalities in the Northwest, two of whom were Washingtonians. They were William S. Ladd of Portland, Dr. D. S. Baker of Walla Walla, and Dexter Horton of Seattle. They were all private bankers, the guiding geniuses in enduring enterprises."
