Abstract

Research in cognitive psychology has suggested that images can be represented in tenus of the spatial relationships of their meaningful pans. 'Ibis paper discusses a technique for knowledge representation that captures both the spatial and descriptive features of an image. 'Ibis formal technique can be used to construct a theory for class determination that involves pattern matching a depictive representation of an image with reconstructed images of known classifications.
