The Libraries Journal Hosting service is available to faculty and staff of the University of Washington; we welcome opportunities for hosting journals, either new journals or established publications.

The Libraries journal hosting service runs on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) open source software platform developed by the Public Knowledge Project.

Prospective editors must be willing to recruit an active Editorial Board, pursue manuscripts from the field, invite/commission articles, commentaries, reviews and other types of journal content in addition to  managing their publication process.

What can you expect from the UW Libraries as part of the hosting service?

  • 24/7 access to your publications, with minimal downtime for maintenance
  • help setting up your journal including a customized presentation interface
  • exposure of articles to search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing via the OAI protocol for metadata harvesting
  • records for journal titles in the UW Libraries catalog and WorldCat
  • technical support for editors and authors
